Celebrate the Bicentennial!
You don't need to go to Europe to celebrate History. Here in Putnam County, the jewel in the crown of the Empire State's counties, we have put our own imprint on the magnificent landscape of America and we treasure our own History during our Bicentennial year.
Throughout our County this year, we will be hosting parades, fireworks, the burial of Putnam's newest time capsule as well as the unearthing of one buried 50 years ago. Just follow our Special Events section below to get all the latest on what's happening and where. 200 years! Come and see us roll out the red carpet in celebration. You'll be glad you did!

Hosted by: Southeast Museum

A lecture by Dr. Allison Stagg

Political cartoons were printed with immediacy, to capitalize on seasonal events and to mock prominent politcians and figures, while extolling pride in the American cause. Caricatures of this period, although printed in haste, expose how people in America felt and how the responded to the War of 1812.
