When the Heart Sings
Hosted by:
Date and time: June 12, 2013, 7:00pm
“When the Heart Sings,” a concert that evokes enchantment in song and story, will take place on Wednesday, June 12th and Thursday, June 13th, 2013 at 7 pm. The glorious music of Monteverdi, Handel, Gluck, and others will fill the historic Chapel Restoration overlooking the Hudson River, at 45 Market Street in Cold Spring, NY. All are welcome, admission is free. Donations are much appreciated.
The two concerts are the culmination of a two-week singing workshop taught by Deborah Carmichael and Kinga Cserjési, licensed teachers of the Libero Canto Szamosi®* approach. The workshop, called Il Cuore Canta (The Heart Sings), is now in its second year. This year, Il Cuore Canta will be presenting nine young artists, accompanied by pianist and well-known opera conductor Douglas Martin. The singers are spending two weeks in Cold Spring exploring the creative possibilities that arise from letting go and allowing the music to take over. Deborah Carmichael, Artistic Director of Il Cuore Canta, often quotes the famous 18th century singing master, Pier Francesco Tosi, “When the heart sings, you cannot dissemble.”
The workshop is being hosted by The Living Room, Gallery 66, and The Chapel Restoration
